Creating Meaningful Ceremony for Children

When a child - especially a young child – is grieving, the sorrow being felt is most likely the result of the death of a family member, and at this time parents and other family members are, of course, also grieving. Although honoring ceremonies for children - like those for adults - are important, they need not be elaborate or complex. Children simply need the opportunity to say: "You are important to me" . . . "I am missing you" . . . "Goodbye."

Lina and Leah developed HONORINGS FROM THE HEART Creating Meaningful Ceremony as a support tool for both these children and their parents. These important ceremonies can easily be accomplished without undo constraints on grieving parents who are already time– and energy–challenged.

Easy to access and easy to use, these pre-packaged kits come complete with all the supplies and guidelines necessary for helping young people create meaningful honoring ceremonies for their special, deceased loved ones. Although funerals are for kids, too, age–appropriate exercises such as these can actually move young ones even further into the healing of their grief.

Beyond being present with the child as they experience their ceremony, there is little else that parents need to do; the kits are complete in themselves, and instructions are written so that even new readers can understand and follow them.
